Ladies and Gentlemen! It’s my great pleasure to be here sharing my lesson with you. Today I’m going to talk about: Part A of Unit 4 ,Book8 , My Holiday. My teaching report includes 7 parts:
Part 1 To analyze the book
This lesson is about the “Holiday”. It includes 2 parts: Let’s learn and Let’s play. By study of this unit, the Ss know how to change the past tense of the verbs and how to make simple conversation. The study of this lesson will help the Ss with daily communication.
Part 2 Teaching Aims
1. Aims on the knowledge
A) To enable the Ss to listen, speak, read and write the new phrases: took pictures, ate good food, sang and danced, climbed a mountain, learned Chinese.
B) To enable Ss to use the sentences pattern“What did you do on your holiday ?”to make simple conversation.
C) To enable Ss to know how to change the past tense of the verbs.
2. Aims on the abilities
A) To develop Ss abilities of listening and speaking.
B) To train the Ss abilities of working in groups.
C) To foster the Ss abilities of communication and their innovation.
3. Aims on the emotion
By completing the task, the Ss increase their interest and set up self-confidence in language study.
Part 3 Key-points of this lesson
First of all, to help Ss learn the new phrases: took pictures, ate good food, sang and danced, climbed a mountain, learned Chinese.
Secondly: To enable the Ss to use the sentences and make simple conversation.
Difficult Points:
Enable the Ss listen, write, read and write the words. It’s the pronunciation of the words.
Part 4 Teaching and Studying methods:
Make the Ss take part in class. Ask and answer in pairs and groups. I’ll use Task-based Language Teaching Method to teach this lesson.
Part 5 Teaching aids:
In order to interest the Ss: I’ll use new words cards and pictures for this lesson and CAI.
Part 6 Teaching process
Step 1 Warming up
1) Enjoy an English song “Let’s have a picnic today”
Enjoy a song can make the Ss feel pleased and excited. In this step teacher and the Ss listen to the song and do the actions together.
2) Preview the words in Unit 3
Divide the Ss into two parts: Group 1 and Group 2. Let them have a competition. When the teacher show “watch/watched” to the Ss G1 and G2 must show “watch/watched” to the teacher as soon as they can.
In this step, it trains the Ss’ abilities of working in groups.
3) Present the task
Step 2 Pre-task
1) Leading in
T: From May 1 to May 7. We had a long holiday. Did you have a good time?
Ss: Yes.
T: All right. What did you do on your holiday? Can you tell me?
S1: I watched TV.
S2: I cleaned the room.
…
T: Great! Now please look at the picture. Where did I go on my holiday? Who can guess? (出示哈尔滨图片)
Ss: You went to Harbin.
T: Yes. I like traveling. I took pictures. .
2) Presentation
(出示took pictures的图片及词卡) The CAI presents a picture of this phrase. Teach “took pictures”. Let the Ss can read and spell it. And then let the Ss answer the question:“What did I do on my holiday?”May be G1 can answer“You took pictures.”I’ll give them a prize.
With the same way to teach the other new phrases .
In this course, Ss can listen, read speak and write these phrases and get the key points by learning.
Step 3 While-task
1) Pair work
Practise these phrases in pairs for 3 minutes.
2) Group work
Each group gets 2 phrases .For example:G1 gets “took pictures” and “learned Chinese”.G2 gets “sang and danced” and “climbed a mountain”. If I point which phrase ,G1 or G2 must speak out as soon as they can.
This design can make the Ss have successful feeling and make them be in English study.
Step 4 Post-task
Two students make a conversation. For example:
A: What did you do on your holiday?
B:I took pictures /learned Chinese/……
Practise in pairs for 5 minutes.
In this step, it fosters Ss abilities of communication and their innovation.
Step 5 Check

The CAI presents some phrases. For example:
A: watched TV cleaned the room ……
B:took pictures learned Chinese ……
By this step, it achieved the teaching aim of this lesson.
Step 6 Homework
Describe your holiday with 5 or 6 sentences.
